Women’s Bare

Essentials Camp

Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Qld.

Introduction to Wilderness Living 4th January - 10th January 2025

From day to day the camp will focus on a different element of bush living alongside our daily mindful practices and shared eating. Each rising of the sun will complement the next moving towards spending your resting and sleeping hours in your own shelter. But don’t worry there is always ground support and a warm dry space to come back to should you need. Summer camps often require more time spent in personal tents with communal build practice taking precedence due to wet conditions and insects.

Nature is the ultimate teacher and master of our activities timetable. Being adaptable is key to getting the most out of your immersion.

My goal is to provide a safe space for women to remember and rekindle their relationship to self and our natural world through deep listening and practices that foster a healthy and sustainable way of life.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON CAMP

After an opening circle, acknowledgement of country and lunch we delve into meeting our fellow sisters and the landscape. The first few days are geared towards shelter, fire, tool use, knots and safety. Learn to read the land and listen to her stories along with a few from crew as we settle into our daily flow.

Movement, forest and fire will enliven your senses as we learn about making fire in various conditions. Identify plant species relevant to fire and ceremony, collect and prepare tinder. Enjoy foods cooked with traditional practices using an earth oven or Kup-Murr. Life is all about the bare essentials on camp.

Remember what it is to be silent and still as we search for the tracks and scats of animals before we let our hands do the work of the soul with creative crafts while we yarn and share story of woman in the world. Making our own clothes helps us reclaim our innate knowing that stems from the very fabric of life itself.

Song and circle, dance or weave. There are several projects on offer depending on the landscape and the materials available.

Base camp will be setup upon your arrival, providing us with a wet weather area and camp kitchen. All meals, aside from one fire feast will be vegetarian and cooked for you by our sensational team. Tamika has years of catering experience and a passion for all things food. Please advise us of any medical / dietary requirements.

There are qualified first aid survival personnel on camp and a great first aid kit. You need only bring personal medications.

‘Bare Essentials’ is a time for you to feel free from the responsibilities and constraints of our modern world and tune into the natural healing properties and time of nature. The land has a creek for bathing and toilet for use. You will bring your own basic camping equipment with the aim of moving into your shelter at some stage if possible. A small list of suggested equipment and personal items will be given to you upon booking. All art and craft materials are supplied.

We are happy to help you arrange transport from the nearest main airport if you are flying in at your cost. Please contact us prior to booking to discuss options. This event is drug and alcohol free (including smoking or plant medicines of any description) and is 16 years plus. A form will be emailed to you for completion upon booking to confirm your eligibility to attend. If for any reasons we deem it unsuitable for you at this given time to attend we will refund in full.

Looking forward to meeting, learning and sharing in your presence.
