Women’s Bare
Essentials Camp
Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Qld.
Introduction to Wilderness Living 4th January - 10th January 2025
From day to day the retreat will focus on a different element of bush living alongside our daily mindful practices and shared eating. Each rising of the sun will complement the next moving towards spending your resting and sleeping hours in your own shelter. But don’t worry there is always ground support and a warm dry space to come back to.
Nature is the ultimate teacher and master of our activities timetable. Being adaptable is key to getting the most out of your immersion.
My goal is to provide a safe space for women to remember and rekindle their relationship to self and our natural world through deep listening and practices that foster a healthy and sustainable way of life.
DAY 1. Arrive mid morning to set up base camp, meet then participate in an acknowledgment of country and a shared meal. Receive instructions on knots, usage of tools, materials, reading the land and site selection then walk the land to chose your site.
DAY 2. Movement, forest and fire will enliven your senses before learning about making fire in various conditions. Identify plant species relevant to fire and ceremony, collect and prepare tinder. The afternoon will be spent working on shelters and projects.
Day 3. Wake to the quiet of the forest. Take a walk before breakfast and learn to listen to the communications of the land. Together we build an earth oven or Kup-Murri and make clay bowls to eat from. Life is all about the bare essentials today.
Day 4. Fire feast and friends. Make some herbal balm and bathe together in clear waters. The afternoon is spent in somatic process until we join again for dinner.
Day 5 Learn the tracks and scats of animals before we let our hands do the work of the soul with creative crafts while we yarn and share story of woman in the world. making our own clothes helps us reclaim our innate knowing that stems from the very fabric of life itself. Today we learn how to care for our tools and equipment and possibly take a nature walk.
Day 6. A day of sharing and sisterhood before the completion of projects.
Day 7. The Ritual Return culminating in a cool swim, fire feast, circle and song.
Day 7. Morning walk, dismantling of shelters and departure after closing circle.
