Tamika Simpson
To Rewild the Earth we must first Rewild Ourselves
Tamika Alexandra Simpson
Tamika was raised in a hunting family, where she learned from an early age how to live closely with nature. Whether it was foraging, fishing, building shelters or cooking over an open fire, the land was always a part of her life. That connection has only deepened over the years, shaping the way she sees the world and how she moves through it today.
With a Fine Arts diploma, Tamika has always found creative ways to express her love for the natural world. Her artwork often reflects the landscapes she’s traversed and the traditions that have been passed down to her. But art isn’t the only way she shares her knowledge. As a cook and author, she’s passionate about keeping traditional food practices alive, especially those rooted in her Indigenous heritage. Learning from elders and the land itself, she embraces a way of cooking that respects nature and honors the stories behind each ingredient.
Tamika’s love for adventure led her to appear on Alone Australia Season 2 (SBS), where she put her skills—and her mindset—to the test. The 53 day experience reinforced what she already knew: survival isn’t just about bushcraft, it’s about patience, trust, and finding comfort in the wild.
She’s spent a few years working as a national parks interpretive ranger, protecting the land and sharing what she knows with others. Whether she’s leading an earthen journey, teaching people how to live more simply, or just having a quiet moment by the fire, she’s always happiest outdoors.
More than anything, Tamika hopes to inspire others—especially women—to reconnect with nature, trust their instincts, and step outside their comfort zones. Living off-grid and in the wilderness isn’t about proving something; it’s about finding peace and knowing that we are always part of something bigger.

I have been known by the name Juluum Dhaalgay meaning Mountain Song in the language of the Gumbaynggirr people. It was on Gumbaynggirr country that I learnt from a few Elders the importance of listening to the land and trusting my instincts. As gatekeeper of a portal I learnt to meditate and delve deep into the psyche of the land and all its wisdoms.
"Whether guiding you on a nature immersion, paddling down remote rivers or sharing yarns around the fire, beads and fibers in hand, my hope is to offer a glimpse into what it means to live free and wild. To trust yourself over societal conditioning. To experience the life that awaits when we face our fears and place our trust in nature."
