NEXT CAMP 18th - 21st September 2024 〰️
Family camps are suitable for all ages and encourages family connections through nature based experiences. The camp grounds have 2 large undercover areas making it an all weather event. Each family or group dynamic is responsible for their own camp set up and following an early lunch on the first day, activities will commence. Shelter builds and bush craft is first on the program with suitable activities on offer for the younger children (nature based arts and crafts, walks and crew led games).
Through out the next 3 to 4 days there are daily activities for all ages and we require that children no matter what age are your responsibility. They are welcome to join any activity you deem suitable given your child’s sociability and skill set. Some, if not all of the following activities are on offer (slingshot making and practice, clay play, all things fire, food challenges, nature walks, story time, shelter builds, earth mandalas and mobiles, weaving, scavenger hunts, tracks n scats, knots and basic bush craft, art activities and educational talks)
The land access and capacity is not suitable for caravans but okay for 2 wheel drive cars or smaller camper trailers with 4x truck. We encourage tent set ups where possible, even sleeping under a shelter even better even if for one night of sleepless fun. Please call or message if you are concerned about anything prior to booking. There are drop loos onsite and cold showers but I recommend bringing a big tub for younger children to bathe in with a bit of warm water from the fire. Please bring your own kettle/billy to heat water. Most people end up swimming in the creek.
Bare Essentials Family Camp is a an opportunity to connect with like minded people. Our time round the fire will be something to remember with traditional food cooking and everyone involved with the practice for at least 2 of the meals. Meat will be served on these occasions and if this is not your desire then please bring your own food for those times. All other meals will be vegetarian and served in the communal dining area or around the fire.
No matter what our age we all learn best when having fun. Our goal of this camp is to inspire the young and old to enjoy themselves and try something new. If any behaviors of children need attention we will act as needed for the safety of all people however behaviors are yours to address. Communication is key as we want an all inclusive mindset for games, activities, talks and demonstrations. There is also a creek in close proximity to camp so please be mindful that we are not responsible for your child’s safety before booking your place at the family camp.
This is a drug and alcohol free event. Any person who needs to smoke will be asked to walk off site. No exceptions. Tea and coffee will be your responsibility as will any food outside of a delicious and generous lunch and dinner. Tamika Simpson has been a retreat caterer for many years including running large festival kitchens. You wont be disappointed.
A code of conduct including campground registration will be emailed to you upon booking. If you require any suggestions for camp gear set up please send us a message. Until we hear otherwise we trust you have your preferences sorted.
A reminder you will be responsible for your own breakfast. No refrigeration will be available onsite unless you need medications cared for and no generators are allowed. There will be communal fire available at all times.
Camp finishes on the 21st September after the last activity, leaving the camp ground by 11am.
Tickets are per person with different prices for various ages. Kids under 3 are free. Tickets include camping fees, lunch and dinner meals across the duration of the camp and all necessary materials to partake in activities.
